The last of Potter's nine extant symphonies, sometimes referred to as No.14 or No.15 on the supposition of further scores which have been subsequently lost.
According to George Macfarren (1813-1887), the Symphony was probably first heard at Potter's 1835 benefit concert. Further performances listed by Macfarren include 25th January 1836 (Society of British Musicians) and 21st March 1836 (Philharmonic Concerts). It was also played at another of the composer's benefit concerts (13th June 1844).
Autograph full score: London, British Library RPS MS 164 (dated 24th November 1834).
