The second movement (Adagio assai) is written to a small set of instruments of the symphony (flute, clarinet in Eb, alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet in C, trombone, violin, cello). After it, the full orchestra returns with choir to perform the third movement. A reduced set of instruments playing a single movement also happen in Brandes' 11th Symphony, second movement.
