In revising the work (in 1864? the cpo notewriter is not certain) Gade completely replaced the first movement (whose original 1863 form can be heard in a 2013 cpo recording) while making many smaller changes to the other three movements.
Unlike the Octet, this work was not issued in score in the 19th century. However, a score is in the complete Gade edition (series 2) which was published by Barenreiter in 1995.
