Grassi possibly the concertmaster of the Moscow orchestra of the time just as Matthai was that of the Leipzig Gewandhaus- not sure. Or possibly Franz Joseph Grassi of the Gewandhaus (dates 1775?-1847. Musicsack is too cautious here, giving only fl.1819-22 for FJ Grassi. See information about his son Franz Dominic Grassi - Leipzig Lexikon and also Geschichte der Gewandhaus (1880).)
