Composition date also 1840 per Brezina's notes to CD of quartets 1 & 2. (Notes to Toccata Classics recording of nos. 3 & 4 replace "et" with "ed" in any case. These same notes mention a review of the premiere in the 4 April 1841 "Bohemia, ein Unterhaltungsblatt".)
