Navigation etc.

This string quartet had a different title. However, years later, Brandes felt that some people could see it as offensive. Since this piece has no political meaning (just history-telling, like an opera), Brandes decided to change the name of the quartet to just "Russian", and the 5th movement title to "Downfall". The former names can be find in the individual parts score, which doesn't affect the performance. Brandes suggests that, if a quartet perform a 24-key quartet cycle by Brandes (which he's far away from completing), that this 2nd quartet (in E minor) be played in the fourth position, swapping place with the quartet in A minor.
