The date 1869 is given in Vidal's Les instruments à archet: les feseurs..., p.xcj, but it's unclear whether quartet 1 or 2 is meant. 1878 saw the publication of Schimon's op.28 and of Vidal's book, so perhaps 1878 might be a good "at-latest" date.
