A string quartet by Prout is noted as having been announced for premiere in Mr. Stratton's chamber concerts (Birmingham?) in the January 27 1883 issue of the Musical Standard; possibly this one. (Piano Quartet No.2, Op.18 was published, also by Augener, ca.1883, according to a January 1883 Musical Times issue mentioning it.)
However, the autograph @ French National Library is dated 16 June 1900 and that it was written for the Universal Exposition of 1900. It could be for a revised version of the work, but it's also possible that the above reasoning is faulty and that the 1880s work is Op.1 quartet no.1, not Op.15.
