Navigation etc.
According to Edward Eanes' Giuseppe Ferrata: émigré Pianist and Composer, at least one earlier quartet for strings, in C, exists and was partially performed (in 1907 and 1908, as Op.3 No.1. Actually, the situation is a little more complicated, as detailed there; in any case that quartet exists only as one manuscript and set of parts, and was never performed in full, just in individual movements or pairs of movements a few times, at least once as part of a concert devoted to Ferrara's music. The performances may have been behind his decision to write this quartet - the full un-Google-previewed book may be more informative on that point.) - Schissel
