performed 1913 March 8 (may have been UK premiere judging from Musical Times description) by Brodsky Quartet (to which Nováček had belonged during his lifetime). Also, performed in Helsingfors in 1901 according to the Monthly Musical Record for June 1, 1901, p.139.
January 18 1899 - first performance in England (see Musical Times, February 1, 1899, page 118. Date given as "following Wednesday" after "11th ult."- that is, one week after, since January 11th was itself a Wednesday. From phrasing, possibly or probably not premiere, but an early date. Also, see Brodsky Collection - is this the quartet referred to in the letter AB/791 ? If so, premiered about a year earlier! - Schissel
