Navigation etc.

The work comprises 5 movements which are very different in character. 1st and 5th movements are both humoristic, kind of a capriccio, but in a classical sonata form. The 2nd movement is a transcription of en imprivised piece - Improvisata for Strings Nr 50 'Hommage á Gustav Mahler'. This piece carries strong influences from Mahlers slow movements in his symphonies, but it is scored for (divided) strings only. The 3rd movement is a sad slow waltz. The 4th movement is based on traditional scandinavian herding calls which were used on the mountain cottages to collect and to call the cattle.
