Seidel Music published popular music in Indianapolis from 1914.
Isadore Seidel and his family managed a chain of music stores in Indianapolis from around 1900.
A typical set of publications were two pieces by famous ragtime composer James Scott (1885—1938) (Dixie Dimples and Springtime of Love) and two by Clarence Woods (1888-1956) (Sleepy Hollow Rag and Graveyard Blues), from 1918-9.
Isadore's father Herman Seidel died in 1922, survived by five sons and three daughters. One of his sons,
Emil (1892-1950), was a successful band leader and pianist in the 1920s. His band, The Emil Seidel Apollo Theatre Orchestra, is famous for making the first recording of Hoagy Carmichael's Star Dust in 1927.
