Scheithauer published popular music (songs, piano pieces and dances, arrangements) from 1889 into the 20th century. They were very productive, publishing at least 400 items in their first ten years. One speciality was a long series of arrangements of opera overtures for piano, violin, cello, flute and cornet, by Hermann Nürnberg and Adolph Wiedeke.
K. Scheithauer of Leipzig, a similarly named academic publisher was active around the same time.
