This work was Written after one of my trips to Rio de Janeiro - Brazil.
The E flat minor key of the main theme invokes the nostalgia of the days spent in Rio, while the second theme, in D flat, illustrates the joy and vivacity of Brazilian people.The third theme, in B flat minor and in the time signature of 12/8, resumes the rythms and harmonies from previous sections.
The piece ends in the relative major key D flat.
