Contains 20 songs from Polish Sokółka County (pl. powiat sokólski), nowadays bordering with Belarus.
These songs were sung by the nanny of editor's children, Józefa Borowska. Additional melodies were written down by Ella de Schoultz-Adaïewski. According to the preface, population of Sokółka used both Belarusian and Polish languages in daily life. For this reason, the presented songs have libretti in Belarusian, in Polish, or even in a mix of these both languages. There are also words from other slavic languages and their dialects. In all cases the editor used Polish orthography "for a wider audience". He also provided further information about possible origin of the songs as well as interlingual influences and other particularities of their libretti.
