Publication first announced in Monatsbericht (1893), p.163. Interestingly, this version is listed with the more common piano trio instrumentation (piano, violin, and cello). Don't know if this was a misprint or if Reger arranged or authorized such a version. (This may also have been a typo on Hofmeister's part; Worldcat listings - Brigham Young in Utah, Sheffield in UK, State U Queensland in Australia- of the Augener edition list the original viola instrumentation. Augener edition no.5283, plate 9604.)
