Extra Information | despite the late opus number, it was composed during the "vacation in Rio", the last piece composed there |
One of the first Piano Concerti in F# Major (Brandes' favorite key), and the first of his four "Concertos in F". The Piano Concerto genre showed Brandes' great evolution from the "shallow" No.1 to the "astonishing" No.5... for example, the No.2 is the first piece in which Brandes used a real "leitmotiv" in the mvt.1 and later as the main theme of mvt.3, a technique common in opera and symphonic poems. As the piece had no dedicatory, as natural, the dedicatory goes to his mother.
