Il lavoro è stato composto nell'estate del 2016 ed è concepito come un vero e proprio viaggio musicale, dall'evocazione del contrappunto barocco nel primo movimento alle atmosfere quasi cinematografiche dell'ultimo, il tutto permeato da un gusto spiccatamente tardoromantico.
