This piece was written as a gift for the composer's girlfriend. The title was given in French, and not in the native Portuguese of the composer, for avoiding confusions, since the equivalent title ("Pequena Balada") could suggest a completely different idea. The word "balada" in Portuguese as spoken in São Paulo is more commonly used with the meaning of "night club party".
