The Partita piccola was created in 2000 as a contribution to “Jugend musiziert” with the intention of creating pieces that have approximately the same level of difficulty for both players. The five movements form the sequence fast-slow-fast-slow-fast, with the fourth movement being symmetrical in structure, as its melody is a twelve-tone row to which its crab is attached, so it turns in a circle, so to speak. The two outer movements enclose the whole by referring to each other thematically. |
