Unrelated to the Op. 27 Three Pieces for Piano, which saw actual publication. The other six pieces (at least, presumably) from the set are not currently accounted for, the only autograph copy of the "Mourning Song" resides in the State Archives of Literature and Art in St. Petersburg, Russia. The opus number discrepancy cannot be explained, other than to say that it isn't the only example of the composer re-numbering/overwriting an opus number at a later date.
