Extra Information | This collaborative opera-ballet was composed by César Cui (Act I), Modest Mussorgsky and Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov (Acts II and III), and Aleksandr Borodin (Acts IV), with additional ballet music by Ludwig Minkus. However, it was never staged, and only fragments of the original score have survived. Ludwig Minkus in 1879 composed his own full-length, 4-act ballet on the subject in 1879. |
