Authorship Note The creation of this Mass could be credited to Joseph Schuster who is conjectured to have reworked it from Heinichen's Mass, SeiH 12. (see note below) |

Paraphrased from RISM: This mass shows various stages of reworking and transference of movements from Heinichen's Mass, SeiH 12. According to Eberhard Schmitz, the reworking comes from Joseph Schuster, who reorganised it as "Missa Reformata" in 1781. Seibel sees the work as an independent Mass by Heinichen.
Kyrie I is fundamentaly the same as the corresponding movement in SeiH 12, with varied orchestral introduction and opening bars of the chorus entry. Christe is identical, with a change of meter. Et resurrexit is almost identical to the corresponding movement in SeH 12 with some occaissional short alterations. Qui tollis, Miserere, Quoniam, Sanctus, Benedictus and Agnus Dei II are newly composed based on motivic material from SeiH 12. Kyrie II, In gloria Dei patris, Et incarnatus, Agnus Dei III and Dona nobis pacem were left unaltered. Die folgenden Sätze sind in den beiden Mss. 2398-D-11 und 2398-D-1 unterschiedlich (keine Bearbeitung): Gloria, Credo, Et in spiritum sanctum, Osanna in excelsis I und II, Agnus Dei I. Gloria, Credo, Et in spiritum sanctum, Osanna in excelsis I und II, Agnus Dei I. Gloria, Credo, Et in spiritum sanctum, Osanna in excelsis I und II, Agnus Dei I are entirely different to corresponding movements in SeiH 12.
