Extra Information
|
The two versions differ mainly in orchestration. The work can be sung by one voice (mezzo) singing both roles, or two voices. Debussy became familiar with Rossetti's poetry through Sarrazin's Poètes modernes de l'Angleterre, published in the mid-1880s.
