  • "His [Lipiński's] first serious forays into the world of composition had been limited to opera pieces in response to the needs of the stage. He had written music for an operetta, A Dispute over a Bet, which he conducted at the [Lemberg/Lviv] theater. It included a polonaise that became extremely popular, but most memorably, its overture astonished listeners, as it made use of the banned national Polish song, Jeszcze Polska nie zgineła (Poland is not yet lost)." - [1]

What is this BJ? Could't find it in the catalogue of Biblioteka Jagiellońska.
  • texts of 3 numbers (Sowizdrzalski's air; Polonaise; and Vaudeville) were printed in 1815 in "Rocznik Teatru Polskiego we Lwowie": [2]
  • The list of musical numbers is made up from the libretto lacking the end of the piece. The vaudeville is cited from the Rocznik. There might have been at least one more final number.
