(Based on the folk song of the same name.) Kâtibim is one of the most famous and important works of classical Turkish (Ottoman) period Istanbul music. It is about the journey of a kâtip (clerk) and a woman to Üsküdar in the 19th century. The work is well known not only in Istanbul of the period, but also in Balkan countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina and Greece.
