Historical Publication Info
History
Mme. Joly of Paris published a variety of works from ca.1820 to 1870: for flute (Eugène Walckiers) guitar (Ferdinando Carulli, Luigi Castellacci) piano (Henri Karr) violin (Nicolas Louis), and many instruction books (méthodes).
From 1870 to 1920 Joly was a printer only: Charles Joly, and Joly frères.
The current Joly publisher is a French legal book publisher operating since 1937.
Incidentally, Mme. Joly was one of many resourceful women who managed a publishing business after being widowed; for example J. Hoffmann and Tobias Haslinger
