Voices (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) Chorus (SATB) Ensemble
- 3 cornetti, 2 trombones, viola, continuo
|
Navigation etc.
The RISM entries for this work have differing numbers of solo voices (2 or 3) and, in a lesser way, trombones -- one entry specifies one alto, 2 bass trombones, the other entry is generically for 3 trombones. However, both of these entries in their "Scoring summary" just list the accompaniment as "orch". However, IMSLP does not have a copy of book 2 of the Symphoniae sacrae, so the original parts cannot be checked. In the meantime this work will be tagged generically for voices, mixed chorus, and orchestra.
- The former 2nd RISM link (now here) is a 19th copy (possibly an arrangement) by Fetis and is not authoritative in any way. The former first link (now here) is for a 19th century printed collection which might or might not reflect the original faithfully. The RISM page for the actual 1615 collection (issued in partbooks) is linked in the publication year field above.
