This is possibly from one of Costa's stage works (operas), but no evidence has yet been found for that. WorldCat lists it as an arietta, with no reference to a larger work, which would be an argument for a separate work, though Grove Music doesn't mention it at all, which would argue for it being from a larger work. More information would be appreciated.
