On February 26, 1992, Armenian military forces committed genocide in Khojaly town which had a population of 7 thousand. During the attack of Armenian military forces there were only 3 thousand people. Because of the blockade within 4 months a significant part of the population had to leave the town. 613 people were killed, 1000 peaceful people of different ages became invalid from gunshot wounds during the genocide. 106 women, 63 children, 70 old people were killed. 8 families were completely annihilated, 25 children lost both parents and 130 children lost one of their parents. On the night of the tragedy, 1275 peaceful residents were taken hostage, the fate of 150 of them is still unknown.
