This difficult work technically is a drift piece in JSB's wake, obviously, but attempts to shun mere imitation by combining harmony and counterpoint in its melodic lines. Its polyphonic structure differs therefore from JSB's Sonatas, except right at the end, where a few measures are entered with the great master in mind. Whether the composer will have the stamina to add five companion pieces to this one is an open question ! However several other works by the composer follow the same design.
