Haakon Zapffe
(1869-1944)
History
The young Haakon Zapffe (1869-1944) bought J.A. Røsholm (his great-uncle was the owner) in 1893 and managed it, under his own name, successfully for 30 years, selling out to Norsk in 1927. Around 1900 the four major music stores and publishers in Christiania were Warmuth, Zapffe, Hals and Oluf By's Musikforlag, but by 1910 there were only Norsk, Zapffe and Oluf By's Musikforlag, and by 1930 only Norsk.
