According to Grove Music "Tallis contributed nine four-voice psalm tunes (one of which has since been made famous by Vaughan Williams) for one of the many metrical psalters published at this time, that of Archbishop Parker in 1567. Otherwise, however, his English music of this period was almost entirely for five voices and was probably written for routine use in the Chapel Royal."
