Manuscripts for several of Ritter's compositions are held at the Music Division of the Library of Congress. This quartet is No. 1 in a set of three quartets for flute, violin, viola, and violoncello in a score and parts-set cataloged as ML96 .R5E8. The RISM ID is 000111424, and the set is indexed as No. 1512 in Otto Albrecht's Census of Autograph Music Manuscripts by European Composers in American Libraries. The holograph score is a "working" score with many strikeouts and corrections, but very few indications of dynamics, phrasings, or articulations; the individual parts, while more legible, have even fewer of these indications.
