Extra Information | Schumann added two more movements to his contribution to this sonata to make a Violin Sonata No.3, WoO 2, completed in November 1853 and performed privately several times in 1853 and 1854. However, this was not printed until 1956 (Schott, revised 1988) and was first performed in public at the Wigmore Hall London on 20 March 1956. See Schumann complete works Series 2 group 2 vol 3 (Schott 2001) for a scholarly edition. The Heinrichshofen edition of 1935 of the complete F-A-E sonata seems to have been published without proper copyright and to have been republished at some point by Masters Music. (It is possible that it was renewed in 1963, though.). |
