German christmas carol. Hojskolesangbogen.dk

Navigation etc.
According to Hojskolesangbogen.dk, "The song is an adaptation of an old folk hymn, which Grundtvig heard as a child, and which he later turned into a Christmas song for children. The psalm tells the story of the birth of Jesus in a rare popular simplicity. The high school songbook indicates the German melody that A.P. Berggreen edited for use in Grundtvig's text." Thus, Andreas Peter Berggreen may have been the one to first arrange the text with this melody. If that is the case, it should be under his name, rather than Anonymous.
