Navigation etc.

  • The instrumental line starts with "flutes et violons", later "flûtes seuls", then later still "flute allemande". The implication is that both recorders and a transverse flute are needed. When plurals are used, it is for a unison line; there is no divisi.
  • Clerambault seems to have set this text more than once. The setting in Motets, Livre 3 (Clérambault, Louis-Nicolas) seems to have no instruments with it, and there is another reference on the internet to a setting for 2 voices and choir.
