The piece is dedicated to the soldiers: in the summer of the year 1914 Germany declared war on Russia. The picture on the cover depicts the tragic episode of the battle — dreams of warriors, sleeping by the fire. Interestingly, some moments of pieces (measures 11-15) repeat a famous song of Alexander Vertinsky "A Little Creole", dedicated to the famous silent movie actress Vera Kholodnaya. It is obvious that the romance of the famous "Pierrot" was composed later, beginning the year 1917, when Prisovsky's piano piece has already been published and was probably pretty popular. As is often happens in the history, Vertinsky's plagiarism was more viable than the forgotten opus by Prisovsky.
