Denmark Vals was originally composed for the Hans Christian Lumbyes debut as bandleader of his own orchestra. In the finale Lumbye interspersed C. E. F. Weyses tune 'Dannemark, Dannemark, hellige Lyd' in addition to some reminiscences of a popular Spanish dance tune. The other two numbers (Sölvbryllupsvals and Fest Quadrille) were composed on the occasion of Christian VIII and Caroline Amalie's silver anniversary 1840-5-22.
