Extra Information | *The original first movement, Waldmärchen, omitted by Mahler in the 1901 published score, was not published until 1969. Until the publication of the complete original 3-movement score in 1999, performances and recordings of the 3-movement work used the 1969 Waldmärchen combined with the previously published 2-movement version. Mahler, however, had made many changes to the latter 2 movements before they were published, making these performances hybrids and inconsistent in orchestral treatment (this also holds for performances of Mahler's 1st symphony in its final published version but with the Blumine movement inserted). |
