History
This firm operated under the guidance of the editor Alfred Dörffel (1821-1905) from 1862 to 1891 in Leipzig. Only 50 items appeared in the first 25 years, then production was vigorous from 1887 to 1891.
Composers in the catalog included Maximilian Heidrich, Algernon Ashton (Opp.23, 33), Ferdinand Thieriot, (Opp.44, 45, 46) and Alexander Winterberger. One special feature of the catalog was the number of women composers: Ann Lemke, Marie Wieck, Jenny Blauhuth and Josefina Brdlikova.
