It would be nice to have a better notion what "Melodramma tragico" actually meant in the 19th century, the better to see if it more or less meant the same as Lyric tragedy. Probably not, but...

Also, curious exactly what "banda"(sp?) (... unless it's short for "bandoneón"? quite possible that I'm misreading that second "a"...) means in the score in the 2nd scene (or perhaps first scene, the earlier portion perhaps being a prelude-with-voices?- I think so.) of Act I (starts on page 72 of the manuscript.) The opening of act 2 specifies "Fanfarra" above "Banda" (rather than "Banda de Fanfarra"...) - ES
