Writer, composer, lyricist John Mucci (*1953) studied music at Carnegie-Mellon University with Leonardo Balada, and while in Pittsburgh co-wrote and composed eleven musical plays which have been performed internationally. His scores for PBS, Windcrossing and Purdy’s Station, were nominated for Emmy (NATAS) awards, and his 3-hour conference on Shakespeare, which included works by the Westchester Brass Ensemble, received the Golden Cine Eagle Award in 1991. For PBS, Mr Mucci was music director for the series “Opus 49,” featuring Igor Kipnis, Gary Karr, Sharon Isbin and other Southern-Connecticut performers, as well as the cable program “How to Play Piano Despite Years of Lessons.” His documentary on music commissions, “Making Art” was shown on MetroArts13 in New York.
