A. Kolfs could be Antoon Colfs, who in 1714 became carillonneur and in 1717, organist of Saint- Rombaut's in Malines. He had been the organist of Saint-Peter-and-Paul's church from 1706 to 1715. He was succeeded in his double function by his son Joannes-Josephus and died in 1729. In the written chimes book (1746) of the Antwerp town carillonneur Joannes de Gruijters there is a "Marche par Mr. Colfs à Malines" and this is a reference to the Malines organist-carillonneur Colfs, father or son. The same march in an other key and with slight variants was published without statement of sources by Xavier van Elewyck in his anthologie Clavecinistes flamands, Bruxelless 1877. According to this author the composer Colfs was choirmaster at Louvain Saint-Peter's round about 1731.
