Giuseppe Ventrella was born in Napoli in 1827, and started his studies at "Conservatorio di Napoli " at the age of 13. In 1851, the town of Piran hired the young musician as "maestro di Cappella" and music teacher, following the recommendations of his mentor, the famous composer Saverio Mercadante. Ventrella spent the rest of his life in Piran and died in nearby Trieste in 1910.
