A society entertainer at the piano, who composed all his own material. Born in 1872, he first started his acting career in the melodrama stage. He however found fame in H. G. Pelissier's Follies, with his piano entertaining, and knowhow on multiple musical instruments. His imitation of instruments was seen in many Follies sketches, like the tin whistle in Tchaikovsky's 1812 sketch. After the death of Pelissier lead to the Follies drifting from the bill, Sydney found success with his piano entertaining. With his name being featured in BBC radio programs as being a society entertainer. Despite his repertoire on the stage, Sydney only published one number. A Musical Monologue named A Melodrama, suitable given where he came from. Why only one number of his has survived to posterity, we'll never know. However, A Melodrama is a good representation of his style, technique and parody.
