Published works between 1856 and 1867, mainly for Litolff. Born at Mainz, Germany, in 1834, and conductor of court concerts for Louis III, Grand Duke of Hesse Darmstadt. Emigrated to the USA in 1868, and established a music conservatory at Jamestown, N.Y. In 1869, had a limb amputated, and, in failing health moved to Painesville, where he established another conservatory, and died. (Source of information: Painesville Telegraph obituary).
