Worldcat Carl Heinrich Paul Stoeving (1861-1948) was born in Leipzig, and studied at the conservatory there, before touring Europe and the United States as a virtuoso violinist. In 1896 he settled in London, taking up a role as Professor of Violin at the London Guildhall School of Music. He later taught at Trinity College London and the New York School of Music and Art. He helped Albert Mitchell set up the Mitchell class method of violin teaching in Boston ca.1910-15.
