According to Joubert's biographical notes for Les Maîtres contemporains de l'orgue vol. 3 (1912), Dom Sergent was born in Auvers-sous-Montfaucon, Sarthe department in France. He was choir director at Notre-Dame de la Couture (Mans); then he entered in the Solesmes abbey where he pursued his musical studies with Dom Delpech. Around 1896, Dom Sergent organist and music teacher in the Oosterhout abbey in Holland.
