According to Immigration Records, Austrian, naturalized US citizen 1854. Father of pianist William Saar (b.1840). An earlier reference

Der Sammler: ein Unterhaltungsblatt, Volume 27, February 1835, page 92) mentions Mr. Saar performing piano in one of his own concertos.
